mISSION & OUTREACH
In every community, there are those who struggle. Whether due to financial hardship, illness, or life’s unexpected challenges. As a church, we believe our purpose extends beyond worship and fellowship; we are called to serve and uplift those in need. University Church is committed to making a difference by extending love, compassion,
and practical assistance to those who need it most.
Our mission is to live with love and justice as followers of Jesus Christ by healing the sick,
feeding the hungry, welcoming the stranger, liberating the oppressed, offering compassion,
and working to create social systems that reflect the values of the gospel.
Discover how we are making a difference in the lives of others.
Feeding the hungry
On the fifth Monday of each month, we partner with Friends in the Desert Foundation to prepare and serve hot meals to those in need at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in downtown Henderson. Together, we serve hundreds of homeless and needy people weekly. University Church supports by contributing food, preparing and serving meals, and ensuring each person is treated with dignity and respect.
Hats and Hands
This year-round ministry lovingly creates hand-knitted, crocheted, and loomed scarves, gloves, and hats for Project Homeless Connect. While it might seem unusual to consider cold weather in the desert, the winter months can bring harsh, biting temperatures that make warmth a true necessity for those without shelter. Volunteers of all skill levels are welcome to join, from seasoned crafters to beginners eager to learn, as we come together to provide warmth and care for those in need during the colder months.
United Women in Faith
A community of women whose purpose is to connect and nurture women through Christian spiritual formation, leadership development, creative fellowship, and education so that they can inspire, influence, and impact local and global communities.
Dorcas' Circle meets every second Tuesday at 9:30am
This group connects with refugees by volunteering and donating to The African Community Center.
Rebecca's Circle meets every first Thursday of the month at 1:00pm
This group collects and donates to Safe Nest.
Nevadans for the Common Good
Nevadans for the Common Good is a broad-based coalition of institutions in the Las Vegas area. This coalition has been built deliberately to cross the lines of race, religion, neighborhood and political affiliation. We take strong stands on issues affecting families and communities, but remain politically non-partisan.
pEGGY'S aTTIC
Peggy’s Attic is the donation center for the Clark County Department of Family Services, serving all children touched by the Family Courts by providing clothing, shoes, toys, diapers, toiletry items, developmental toys, school supplies, and many other items free of charge.
We collect items for the children in foster care several times per year, and once a month, community members meet on Tuesday mornings to volunteer.
